The Best things in Life are Free!

Michael and I had a fellow dental student (Jon) and his wife (Kristy) over for dinner a few weeks ago and Jon introduced Michael to the world of free stuff via radio websites. It's actually pretty easy to get free tickets to movies, soccer games, premieres etc. from radio stations if you have a junk e-mail account and 10 minutes to go through quizzes and games and accumulate points on their websites..

Michael goes through 98.7 here in Los Angeles and 1 week ago won his first prize! He tickets to a pre-screening of Tron! We were so excited to go and even left an hour early  to make sure we got to the theater on time (from our apartment it is 14.2 miles away). Well between Michael's confusion with google directions, the general confusion that is the freeway system out here, and terrible traffic at all hours of the day, it took us 45 minutes to essentially get 4.7 miles. We finally entered the freeway with 15 minutes to get to the movie theater. We ended up showing up for the 7:00pm pre-screening at 7:15pm. They theater employees were so nice and got us in quick to sit and watch the last 15 minutes of the pre-screening of random scenes from the movie. Not what we were expecting at all-apparently a pre-screening doesn't alway mean they show the whole movie.

I was so lost (since I had yet to see the original 80s Tron) after watching that. Good part of this story-we got a coupon that got us movie tickets for $5. That's amazing since regular priced movie tickets out here are $13.50. Our coupon expired that night so we stuck around and watched "Social Network." Great movie we both really enjoyed it. In the end not totally free, but over 50% off it totally worth it!
